If you missed the second ‘Tech This Out’ event hosted by LSD last week, here is a handy wrap-up for you. TTO featured Red Hat’s OpenShift version 4.12, presented by two senior solution architects from Red Hat; Francis Viviers and Chris Mulder, who provided attendees with an in-depth overview of the new features in version 4.12.
The presentation was well-structured, offering attendees a comprehensive understanding of OpenShift and its latest functionality. The technical demos on Advanced Cluster Management and Advanced Cluster Security were particularly insightful. It was also the first time that Tech This Out had a technical demo, and it happened to feature Pac-Man.
However, the event was not solely focused on technical content. Attendees hung out to network with other community members over pizza and drinks, which was a great way to end the work week. It was also great to have these conversations in person over a snack instead of a laptop.
What’s next for Tech This Out?
We have been discussing how to go about future ‘Tech This Out’ events as it would be cool to record these sessions and make them available after. Something that could also be useful is perhaps live streaming it to a venue in Cape Town, where our friends from that side can also get together with pizza and beer. There are a couple of things to iron out with these options and they are very much still in the discussion stage. As soon as there is an update, we’ll let the community know.
In terms of content, we would really like to show off an open source tool called AHOY! in one of the upcoming sessions.
Overall, the second ‘Tech This Out’ event was fun and it was great to see some new faces joining us, as well as returning members. For those unable to attend, keep an eye out for future events. And for those who did attend, we hope you found it as informative and enjoyable as we did. Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us. A huge thank you to Francis, Chris, Red Hat, and Corné & Bakoena from The Tryst.
